Heart Program to Relocate to New 7th Floor

Midwest Regional Medical Center, the community’s leading provider of high-quality cardiac care, announced today a new home for its highly recognized heart services program.

The relocation of these services to a solely dedicated and newly-constructed 7th floor is part of a $25 million project, through which Midwest Regional is further advancing its legacy of cardiology with the addition of new, state-of-the-art technology and modern facilities.

“Midwest Regional has an unmatched, 21-year legacy of providing cardiac care to our community and we are deeply committed to protecting and advancing the quality of heart care for our patients,” said Stan Holm, CEO of Midwest Regional Medical Center.

Solely dedicated to hearts, this new addition will house the Oklahoma Regional Heart Institute, which is the cardiac practice at Midwest Regional Medical Center. The Institute is expected to open in August 2010 and will accommodate 51 patient beds throughout 25,000 square feet of newly constructed space.

“Heart disease and heart-related health symptoms impact all of us. As both increasingly impact our community, Midwest Regional is dedicated to meeting our patients’ needs and to advancing cardiology services for the people of Eastern Oklahoma County—now and for years to come,” said Page Vaughan, Market CEO of Midwest Regional Medical Center.

“As we speak, Midwest Regional is recruiting additional cardiologists, growing our cardiology services and exploring relationships with other providers in the area that could further strengthen our program.”

Designed with the input of Midwest Regional's cardiac caregivers, the new floor will be outfitted with new equipment, furniture and medical technology to guarantee a focus on an optimal patient experience.  It will also be fully staffed with specialized nurses and state-of-the-art monitoring equipment.

Midwest Regional's heart patients also benefit from the hospital's participation in a variety of clinical trials.  These trials allow our patients the opportunity to receive the latest medications in the fight against heart disease.

Midwest Regional has long been a leader in heart care in our community:
  • First hospital in Oklahoma City metro area to do a peripheral  stent procedure; and
  • First hospital in Oklahoma City metro area to do robotic surgery.

These advancements in heart services will be complimented by a complete range of medical services that only a full-service, community hospital like Midwest Regional can provide.

Uniquely positioned to treat the “whole patient,” Midwest Regional offers access to a broader range of medical services – including specialized surgical support and emergency medical services – that are needed to treat the other, associated conditions that heart patients often have.

Often the first responder to heart patients, Midwest Regional owns and operates its own emergency medical services program, which serves the entire community.
