Admissions

Planning for Your Hospital Stay

What to Bring

It is important to us that you are comfortable as possible during your stay.  We suggest that you bring the following items with you when you arrive for admission:

  • A bathrobe and slippers (preferably with rubber soles to protect from slipping)
  • Personal hygiene items (toothbrush, comb, lotion, hair care products, deodorant, make-up)
  • Care items needed for glases, contacts or teeth

DO NOT BRING VALUABLES SUCH AS JEWELRY OR EXTRA CASH

Valuables

Leave all valuables at home.  If that is not possible, you may deposit valuable items in the hospital safe.  However, we cannot take full responsibility for their safekeeping.  Glasses, hearing aids, dentures, watches, money or any other valuables which you keep in your room are your responsibility.  Do not wrap any item in paper or tissue which may be mistaken for trash.

For safety reasons, patients who undergo surgery are not allowed to wear jewelry into the surgical suite.  If you are scheduled for surgery, please arrange for the security of your jewelry, including wedding rings.

If you lose something, notify one of your nurses immediately.  Found articles are kept in the Security office.  You may contact them by dialing 8140.

Admission and Discharge

Inpatient and Diagnostic Testing

If you are being admitted to the hospital for a non-surgical procedure or have a diagnostic test scheduled, check in at the main admitting reception area.  Admitting hours are 6:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.  After hours and weekend admissions are through the Emergency Room.

Surgery and Outpatient Special Procedures

If you will be admitted to the hospital following a surgery or an outpatient special procedure, you will be asked to go through a pre-admission process.  Pre-admission allows you to take care of most of your paperwork and diagnostic tests prior to surgery to simplify the process the day of your surgery.  You are encouraged to pre-admit at least 24 hours prior to being admitted.

Pre-Admit hours are 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays in the Day Surgery Center.  Please call 610-8517 to schedule your pre-admit apppointment.
  • If you are pre-admitting for surgery or for an outpatient special procedure, please check in at the nurses' station in the Day Surgery Center.
  • If you are scheduled to check in before or after day surgery hours, go to the main admission office in front of the hospital.
  • If you have pre-admitted and have the appropriate lab and x-ray work done, you may go directly to the nurses' station at the Day Surgery Center the day of surgery.
