da Vinci Robotic Surgical System
Midwest Regional Medical Center is the first hopsital in the Oklahoma City metro area to install a da Vinci Surgical System. Robotic-assisted surgery is a relatively new way of performing minimally invasive surgery using techniques that allow a surgeon to operate through several small incisions about the size of a dime. Benefits for the surgeon include increased range of motion, improved dexterity, and enhanced 3D visualization. For patients, the da Vinci system offers all the benefits of minimally invasive surgery, including shorter hospital stays, less pain, reduced risk of infection, less blood loss, less scarring, and faster recovery time.
